Tournaments are regular competitive events in Degen Pets where you pit your active trading team's performance against other players for $DGPT prizes, exclusive badges, and bragging rights.

Core Concept: PnL Competition

  • Standard Scoring: Unless the specific tournament rules state otherwise, your rank is determined by the Net Profit and Loss (PnL) achieved by your 4 active Pets on the Trading Desk.

  • Calculation: PnL is calculated based on the $DGPT earned or lost from trades closed during the official tournament window. Unrealized gains/losses on open trades generally do not count towards the tournament score itself (though they contribute to your overall $DGPT balance).

  • Goal: Maximize the positive $DGPT PnL generated by your active team within the tournament duration.

Tournament Types

Degen Pets features a variety of tournament formats:

  1. Weekly Standard Tournament:

    • Frequency: Runs automatically every week (e.g., starts Monday 00:00 UTC, ends Sunday 23:59 UTC*).

    • Entry: Free for all players with an active Trading Desk. Participation is automatic if you have pets trading.

    • Goal: Highest Net PnL over the full week.

    • Prizes: $DGPT awarded to top performers (e.g., Top 1%, Top 10%, Top 25%*) distributed from the dedicated . Top ranks may also earn Player Badges like "Weekly Winner".

    • "Rekt Royale" Bonus: A special recognition (unique Badge* + small $DGPT prize*) is awarded to the player with the lowest Net PnL for the week.

  2. Monthly Major Tournament:

    • Frequency: Runs once per month, typically for a shorter duration (e.g., 3-5 days). Dates announced in advance.

    • Entry: Requires a $DGPT Buy-in Fee (Cost: 25* $DGPT). You must manually register and pay the fee before the tournament starts.

    • Goal: Highest Net PnL over the specific tournament duration.

    • Prizes: $DGPT prize pool dependant by participant size. The pool is primarily funded by 75% of all collected buy-in fees*. The project may contribute additional base prizes.

    • Burn Mechanism: 25% of all collected buy-in fees are permanently burned/used for DGPT/ETH LP*.

    • Recognition: Winners receive exclusive "Tournament Champ" Player Badges per season.

  3. Special Event Tournaments (Rotating):

    • Frequency: Run periodically, often alongside Majors or during special promotions.

    • Entry: Usually Free.

    • Unique Rules: These events change the scoring or participation criteria:

      • Species Showdown: Only Pets of a specific Species contribute score.

      • Timeframe Challenge: Only Pets on a specific Timeframe score.

      • Market Madness: Only trades on designated assets count.

      • Consistency Challenge: Ranking based on highest Win Rate % (minimum trade count required).

    • Prizes: Vary per event, often $DGPT from the Tournament Pool Fund and potentially unique Badges.

Community Representation

  • For certain tournaments (like Weekly Standard & Monthly Major), if your connected wallet holds a verified NFT from one of our partner projects, you may have the option to "Represent" that community.

  • This primarily adds a community tag to your name on leaderboards.

Checking Leaderboards

  • Navigate to the "Leaderboards" or "Tournaments" section of the application.

  • Select the specific tournament or leaderboard type (Weekly, Monthly, All-Time, etc.).

  • View rankings, scores (PnL), and potentially the top Pets used by leading players.

Participating in tournaments is a great way to test your pet management skills against the community and earn significant $DGPT rewards.
