Guide: Forging Pets

Forging is a core mechanic in Degen Pets that allows you to combine two existing Degen Pets NFTs from your collection to create a cybernetic NFT and enhancing your Quants abilities. It is the planned pathway for gen 2 of the game.

The Forging Process: Step-by-Step

1. Navigate to the Forge: Find the "Forge" section within the Degen Pets application. (Requires one time unlock 150 $DGPT)

2. Select DegenPets NFT A: You'll be prompted to choose the first degen pets nft from the ecosystem. Click the selection area, which will likely open a view of your Pet Collection. Choose any NFT you own that is not currently sleeping or potentially undergoing another process.

3. Select DegenPets NFT B: Similarly, choose the second NFT from your collection. You must select a different NFT than previously selected. Both parents must be owned by you.

4. Review Details & Cost: The interface will display the two selected degenpets nfts and the required Forging Fee (50 $DGPT).

5. Confirm & Initiate Forging:

   • Read the warnings carefully! Forging permanently burns BOTH NFTs. They will be removed from your collection forever.

   • Click the [Forge Now] or similar confirmation button.

   • Your wallet will prompt you to:

     • Approve the Forging Contract to manage the two Parent Pet NFTs (if you haven't already).

     • Approve the Forging Contract to spend the $DGPT Forging Fee.

     • Confirm the main transaction to initiate the Forging process, which will transfer the $DGPT fee (with a high %* being burned) and trigger the burning of the NFTs.

6. Processing: Once your transaction confirms on the blockchain, the Forging process begins. The smart contract:

   • Burns the NFTs.

   • Burns the required $DGPT fee portion.

   • Records Player wallet address, if pet the variables, if promotional (other meta deta like score).

   • Mints the cybernetic NFT directly to your wallet.

   • You'll likely see a "Forging in Progress..." or similar indicator in the UI. This can take a short while depending on blockchain speed.

7. Success!: Once complete, you'll receive a notification, and the cybernetic NFT will appear in your Collection.

Understanding Cybernetic NFTs

Cybernetic NFTs are our pathway to the next iteration of Degen Pets OR should no iteration be possible are receipiants of a % split of the LPs from the LP Locker smart contract:

1. Feed the algo: Pet NFTs used have their species and individual parameters stored, opening up more abilities for the quant to customize any pets strtegic choice.

2. End Game: Cybernetic NFTs are intended to give access to v2 of the degenpets simulation but should their be no v2, v3 etc then the smart contract holding the LP keys will distribute a yet to be determined

3. share of the APE/DGPT LP. Rewarding the players, traders and investors who grew the LP in the first place.

4. Badges & History: Burnt pets can not earn badges – it does not inherit the badges or trade counts, burning a pet forgoes any ability for said pet to claim anymore badges.

Why Forge?

• Supply Sink: Removes two NFTs from circulation, contributing to scarcity.

• $DGPT Burn: Removes $DGPT via the fee burn.

• Access to Future Protocol: Experiment, can strategy backtesting be decentralized in that a future markets royalties can flow to linked parameters which provided a 51% success rate?

• Access to Future Generations: Forging is the only way to create gen2 pets, which is planned to be necessary for accessing potential future features or mechanics, in doing so the LockerLP is extended another X years, if deemed not viable the LP is distributed to Cybernetic NFT holders (percentages to be determinded)

• Forging is a core endgame loop that requires careful consideration and strategic use of your Pet collection and $DGPT resources.
