Welcome to Degen Pets! This guide will walk you through playing the game, starting with understanding your objectives and taking your first steps.

What's the Goal Here?

Degen Pets offers more than just trying to make simulated profit. While guiding your Pets to successful trades is a core part of the game and a primary way to earn the $DGPT utility token, there are multiple interconnected goals and strategies you can pursue:

1. Optimize Trading Performance:

   • The Challenge: Each Pet NFT has a unique strategy (based on its Species) modified by unique, random parameters. Your task is to figure out which Market (e.g., BTC/USDT, ETH/USDT) and which Timeframe (e.g., 15m, 1h, 4h) allows your specific Pet to perform best.

   • The Reward: Pets that consistently close profitable trades earn more $DGPT, especially those achieving large wins (triggering profit bonuses*). Top performers climb the Leaderboards and dominate Tournaments. Using the Visual Backtester (requires unlock) is key here.

2. Master the Badge System:

   • The Strategy: Don't discount your underperformers! The Badge system rewards a wide range of activities and outcomes for both your account (Player Badges) and individual Pets (Pet Badges).

   • The Reward: Achieving badges grants one-time $DGPT rewards. Notably, Pets enduring long losing streaks can earn the "Black Clover" badge, potentially providing enough $DGPT to help acquire new Pets or fund Forging attempts. Actively "hunting" specific badges by putting pets in different situations can be a rewarding strategy in itself. Check the full Badge List for targets!

3. Evolve Your Collection via Forging:

   • The Long Game: Even pets that consistently lose or seem suboptimal for current markets hold value. They are essential components for Forging. By burning two Pets and paying a $DGPT fee*, you create a cybernetic NFT.

   • The Reward: Player accounts that forge pets have their variables and strategies recorded, variables become available for quants to use whilst the cybernetic NFT functions as a endgame piece, either leading to Gen2 access or a split of the DGPT/APE LP's held within the respective smart contract.

In summary: Your overall goal is to engage deeply with the Degen Pets ecosystem. Experiment with market assignments, manage your pets' Mood using Items, collect diverse Pets, strategically pursue Badges, compete in Tournaments, and utilize Forging and the Quant Lab to build the most effective and accomplished roster.

Getting Started: Your First Steps

Ready to dive in? Here's how to get your operation running:

1. Connect Your Wallet: Visit the Degen Pets application website. Click the prominent [Connect Wallet] button. Choose your preferred EVM-compatible wallet (e.g., MetaMask, Rabby, WalletConnect option) and approve the connection request in the wallet pop-up.

2. Check for Trading Desk Access: Once connected, the application automatically verifies if your wallet address has already purchased Trading Desk access.

3. Purchase Trading Desk (If Required):

   • If this is your first time, you'll likely see a pop-up or prompt indicating you need Trading Desk access.

   • (Partner Bonus Check): The system simultaneously checks if your wallet holds a designated NFT from one of our official partner projects (based on periodic snapshots* - allow up to 12 hours* for new acquisitions to register).

   • The cost is 30 APE*. Click the [Buy Trading Desk] or similar button.

   • Your wallet will ask you to confirm the transaction (sending 30 APE). Approve it. Remember, 90%* of this ETH funds the $DGPT/ETH liquidity pool, supporting the token's ecosystem, while 10%* goes to project operations.

4. Receive Your First Pet NFT:

   • As soon as your APE transaction confirms on the blockchain, the Trading Desk access is granted to your account.

   • You will immediately receive your first Degen Pet NFT!

   • If Partner NFT Was Held: You can use the Adoption (mint) page to be presented with a choice: select the Pet Species associated with the partner project (70% chance of success), OR opt for a random Pet.

   • If No Partner NFT Held: You will automatically receive a Pet of a random Species.

   • Uniqueness: No matter how you receive it, your Pet's specific trading parameters are randomly generated within its species' rules, making it unique! It will appear in your Collection.

5. Explore Your Dashboard/Collection: You should now have access to the main application interface. Congratulations, you're officially a Degen Pets Trainer!
